Redevelopment plans would demolish most of the Shops at Worthington Place mall – News – ThisWeek Community News

A Texas developer has submitted a plan to redevelop and rebrand the Shops at Worthington Place mall into a mixed-used space called High North, according to a news release sent Friday, Sept. 18, by the city of Worthington.

Dallas-based Direct Retail Partners had purchased the property in December 2019, with stated plans to revitalize it.

The firm has filed a development application seeking to rezone the property to a planned-unit development, with plans to eventually demolish about 120,000 square feet of the 138,000-square-foot building.

Man fatally stabbed at Providence Place mall; 4 in custody

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death at a Rhode Island mall late Thursday morning and police have taken four people into custody, authorities said.

The stabbing at the Providence Place mall at about 11:30 a.m. followed a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation, Police Chief Hugh Clements said.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers chased the four suspects and arrested them as they were attempting to flee, he said.

They are all “well known” to police, Clements said.

Park Place Mall reopens with new guidelines in place

TUCSON – Gov. Doug Ducey has given the go-ahead for malls in Arizona to open up. However, new guidelines are in place.

“So, first you will notice touch-free doors. This is at every single entrance,” said Brighid Dawson, manager of Park Place Mall. “When you come in, you will see a hand sanitizing station. There is one at every entrance and throughout the center.”

Wearing a mask is not required at the Park Place Mall but if you would like one, just look for a security guard.

Currently, only 30 percent of retailers are open at Park Place Mall.
