Payless relaunches with website, plans to open hundreds of stores

Good news, shoe lovers!

Payless ShoeSource closed its final stores in the U.S. in June 2019 after filing for bankruptcy, but the shoe retailer announced Tuesday it is returning.

“Today, Payless, the footwear retailer with a 60+ year heritage, is excited to announce its relaunch into the North American market, unveiling an immersive Ecommerce platform and new brick-and-mortar retail concept stores,” the company announced in a press release.

As of Tuesday, Payless.com was live, with a message saying “Payless is back” on its main page.

Hundreds of early voters flock to Westfield Mall in Palm Desert

The first day of early voting here in the valley kicked off on Friday. More than 200 people cast their ballot in person at the Westfield Mall in Palm Desert.

George Floyd protests: Hundreds arrested in Santa Monica

The tension was palpable Sunday in Santa Monica.

What started as a peaceful protest along Ocean Avenue devolved into chaos around 1 p.m., as looters smashed storefronts in the Santa Monica Place mall and other downtown businesses. Police said they made hundreds of arrests and that the National Guard had arrived to help.

Couples sitting and enjoying meals at recently opened restaurants looked stunned as cars dropped off people, many of them wearing masks and hoodies, who then broke into a pharmacy on 7th and Broadway. Several looters stormed inside and took handfuls of items.
